News & Updates
Here at What’sTheDish we try to keep you as informed as possible about all the restaurant news and updates that happen on the island. Whether its restaurant openings and closings, or new head chefs, or even special menu additions, we’ll try to report it as best we can.
Atlantic Cafe Is Reopening, But Under A New Name (5/7/2009): Finally resolving a cloud of doubt, the Atlantic Cafe (or at least a restaurant in its place) will be reopening just in time for the summer. However, it will no longer be known as the AC. It will be reopening as "Cy's Lobster Pot." According to the Inquirer and Mirror the restaurant will have a revamped menu, with a focus on seafood and family friendly cuisine. For more information, you can read the I&M article here http://www.ack.net/ACCys050709.html. It will be sad to see a mainstay establishment like the AC gone from downtown, but at least it won't be a vacant building. And if you are wondering where the name Cy's came from, you only have to look at the back of the restaurant from Easy Street.
Finally, Another Chinese Food Option Offered On The Island (3/2009): "Jimmy Chew's at the Hen House" recently opened to provide Nantucket with a much needed addition to its Asian food scene. Head Chef Louis Guarnaccia, with authentic chinese food kitchen experience in both New York City and Connecticut, boasts traditional "home-style" Chinese cuisine. Until now, there has been only one other restaurant offering Chinese food--Harbor Wok. Besides offering a new variety of cuisine, Jimmy Chew's provides take-out and delivery. Review to come.
Chef Shuffle Shakes Up New Restaurant 'Dune' (3/2009): After only a week of manning the kitchen as head chef, Philip Kirschen-Clark was fired and replaced by new head chef, Michael Zentner. For reasons unknown, owner Michael Getter (formerly of American Seasons and 21 Federal) and Kirschen-Clark found themselves at odds and parted ways. We will update as more information is received.
